Hey.
Not new to reenacting but new to this US forum. Im part of Normandy44 in the UK (2nd Rangers). Have only been doing WWII for just over a year now, used to do ACW and ECW but this is far more fun.
Cheers

What type of unit are you looking for. We have a small unit that primarly does CBI supply depots.

...And when I log in, I'm told I have three messages. I have looked everywhere (or so I thought) for a menu to select "View Messages" but so far no luck. Where is that? How do I view my new messages? The "Help" area, which is otherwise fairly robust and informative, only says "Integrated with the message boards is a private messaging system." That information is rather unhelpful since it provides no clues on how to access the private message system to view messages. Maybe it would be more help if it helped you view messages, instead of just telling you, yes, there is a private message system. Help!

Right of the display images, there is a spot that says
"Hey, beeker77, you have 3 messages, 3 are new."
When you mouse over the bold part (its not bold on your screen, but for clarifications sake it is), then it will be underlined. This is a feature called a "Mouse over", and is the link to your inbox.
Also, at the bottom of the page under "Forum Statistics", you will see the following information
Total Members: 4038 Newest Member: pilgrimpete Your Instant Messages: 3 New: 3
If you click on the bold 3 (again, not three on your computer, but for the sake of clarification), then that too will access your message inbox.
Hopefully this helps, but if not post again and I will elaborate further. Jon

Got it! Cool.... I guess I'm spoiled by the general convention of underlining hyperlinks. Never thought to hover the cursor. Now I know! Thanks again.

Is there acertain age that you have to be to start reenacting or any qualifications? If some1 could claer this up for me that would help alot. Basicaly it boils down to you can't do tacticals till your 18 for insurance purposes. There are some events where with parental permission a waiver may be signed for those under 18 with adult supervision. For static display living history there is no age barier. Jim

Hello! I am a young man getting into reeinacting I have been collecting american and german gear and am in contact with the local reeinacting group but they are Swedish so are only doing SS vs Russian and have been talking about doing American. Question is I am the grandson of an Officer from WW II hence the name I use. I am looking for a reeinacting group for the 1st in paticular and hopefully a 16th regiment group because it was my grandfathers regiment I also may be able to add some correct information as to correct equiptment worn by 16th men as I have tons of my grandfathers photos. They had a mix of gear from ww I and II my grandfather wore a tankers jacket had a 1918 canteen and carried a m1 garand he wads a Forward Observer but carried no binoculars or map case and from what I have observed and seen from the photos and conversations with some of his men that all the front line officers dressed down as not to appear as more than an enlisted man (snipers like to shoot the important guys first!) I am researching My grandfathers war history and am going to be in France for the D-Day celebrations this June 6th and also to the 1st Div. Reunion in Arlingtonh in July as to further my research on my book(not to mention going to the 1st Div museum Cantigny) Any help or input is appricated I am working on doing a documentary film and would like to get in touch with reeinactors who would be interested in helping /Participating. Thanks again Jordan

I am a newbie here. My main interests are threefold:
1) to put together both a 1955 Cold War era RCA Army Cadet Uniform to do some re-enactments of what I did with my Kenner Collegiate classmates 50 years ago. The plan is to blend this in with current R.C.L. activities as well as small arms competitions with local shooting clubs to have a "historical perspective:, 2) to put togehter a WWI C.E.F. "Fighting 93rd" Battalion front line rifleman's uniform and/or a Fort Garry Horse Mounted Cavalryman's to do some historical interpretation; 3) to put together a 1868 Lifford Volunteer Captain's Uniform so I can march on Niagra Falls to repeal the 1868-2005 Fenian Invasion. I would like to be mounted for this and do some Cowboy Mounted Action shooting.
All this said, I have the rifle, pistol and riding skills to do this, the KIT is my major stumbling block to proceed.
So these will be my focus here. I think starting with the RCA Army Cadet is the K.I.S.S. I was in the Cadet Corps for four years...1954-1958 so once I get my WWII-Korean War uniform back it should be easy eh! Any ideas on one or more of these?

I am brand new to reenacting as well, just applying to the 501st 101AB in the East. After interviewing them, I seem to remember that 18 was the magic number. But, younger than that are allowed to serve as medics and non-gun toting roles. Something for everyone. I wish my wife would jump on board!

Hello, I've done Medieval and have been round some of the Civil War camps as a visitor but haven't done any WWII yet. I live in Memphis, TN. I've looked around on some of the websites but haven't found any listings for groups in my area. Anyone know of a WWII unit around Memphis or Northern Mississippi?
