Hello, I didn't know where to put this topic so I hope it's ok here.
I have been trying research MOS's from WWII but have not been able to find a list anything. The MOS's I am most concerned about are "Duty Soldier I 522" and "345". I think the "I 522" MOS has to do with POW guard duty or something like that. The other one? If anybody out there has any info I would appreciate it greatly.

522 - Guard Patrolman Stands guard and acts as a watchman at a post, base or other military reservation as a member of a permanent guard unit.
Patrols a prescribed area of a military reservation or does sentry duty at post during watch. Stops anyone from entering unauthorized areas.
345 - Automotive equipment operator Chauffer; Drives auto or truck ( 2-1/2 ton capacity or less) to transport personnel and equipment. Checks operation of lights, brakes and other operating parts. Services cleans and lubricates vehicle.
Repairs flat tires, camouflages vehicles and knows standard vehicle report forms.
Must know principles of the internal combustion engine, map reading, convoy rules and road discipline.
Completion of course in truck driving at an Army school or equivalent experience requuired.

Dean, Thanks so much for the response!
Maybe if you have time you could list other MOS's with job title. I read in another post (in General Reenacting)where other people are looking for this same type of info. Of course, I realize that there are probably hundreds of MOS's so maybe that wouldn't be practicle.
Anyway, Thanks again! Jim

Hello
Your welcome Jim.
If anyone else needs information regarding a MOS # post here and I'll see what information I have.
My Manual is for the Army Air Forces, so I don't know what MOS #'s are the same for the Army.

The following numerical list of Military Occupational Specialties from the 1944 time period was sent to The Korean War Educator by Arthur E. Lajeunesse of Latham, New York. Arthur was a rifleman with Item Company, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division in Korea from September 1951 to July of 1952. He ended up as a section leader in 60 mm mortars, 4th platoon. If anyone is looking for Marine Corps MOS codes its not hard they didnt change very much just added alot of detailed specialties. All the Combat Arms MOS ie.. Infantry and Artillery are still the same. Most others are as well.
