Anyone have experience with Airsoft? The ranges match pretty well with at least one club's rules. I have discussed events with some Mil Sim folks (Which is a movement to get away from the paint ball type events) but they seem more hooked up with CoD gaming type events- with modern gear and FPS kind of events. It seems with airsoft MGs and snipers can do something.

Have to wear eye and face pro with air soft. So much for accuracy.

The eye and face pro is a stumbling point and the lack of a pow and a flash. For some States (California) AIRSOFT maybe the only real option for a accurate squad/platoon formation. Problem is the BAR is cheaper then the M1. So anyone in California who reenacts also do AIRSOFT? I have seen the MilSim sites, but they are just live FPS really.

We don't use or allow airsoft at reenactments in CA. Why would it be the only real option?

Will airsoft replace guns, different kind of event. Just like a private event is different from a public display. As for accurate: For Americans depending on the unit, 1919 belt illegal, BAR magazine illegal, Carbine, magazine illegal, Tommy/M3 magazine illegal. Brit Bren magazine illegal, STEN, magazine illegal. German MG34/42 belt drum illegal, MP40 magazine illegal. Red Army PPSh magazine/drum illegal, DP drum illegal. leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=201520160SB1446https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=201520160SB1446 Based on California's history I think 5 rounds is where they will stop. Why five rounds, because a wheel gun has six round chambers in which one is empty for "safe". It would seem a logical guess for California to require a plugged chamber on wheel guns and all other fixed and external magazines to meet the same standard. leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=201520160AB1511https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=201520160AB1511

1919 belt with blank rounds is not illegal.
You are making decisions based on supposition.

"A large capacity magazine also includes linked ammunition with more than 10 rounds linked together or an ammunition belt with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds." Page 74 This means belts either linked, web or other wise can only be in 10 round lengths-some what like a Hochkis(sp)clip as used on French MGs. I am not aware of exceptions for blank cartridges. Other benefits of California oag.ca.gov/firearms/fscfaqs#a1615. "Is a Firearm Safety Certificate required when a firearm is being loaned?" "It depends on the specific circumstances. Generally, a person being loaned a firearm must have a current FSC. However, an FSC is not required if the loan does not exceed three days in duration and the person loaning the firearm is at all times within the presence of the person being loaned the firearm."

We don't use or allow airsoft at reenactments in CA. Why would it be the only real option? There are groups in CA that do WWII airsoft, www.facebook.com/groups/485196308267458/ is the FB page for the one group I know of. I don't think airsoft should replace blank reenacting, rather should be an addition to the hobby or a subsection of the hobby. I went to a mixed blank and airsoft reenactment once in CT, it was a blast to have real guns blasting off blanks. It added to the experience of having the ambiance and bb's flying round.
