Hi All, I have a question regarding US equipment. I was wondering how they use to hang the grenade. Were the grenades hanged directly on the 1936 suspensor or other kind of suspensors? Or do you need an additional item to hang them?
I'm going to participated in my first reenactment and I have a grenade from New Orleans Museum trying to hang on the suspensor, but it looks unlikely that they were hanged by the spoon as it seems unsafe to me.
Any ideas?
Thanks for your help.
Jacques

Not any "un-safer" than wrapping the spoon with friction tape and removing the pin!...lol

If they were hung from the suspenders it was usually by the spoon, never by the pull ring. Guys learned really, really fast that hanging the grenade by the pin was a bad idea. Some even taped the grenades to the suspenders with friction tape to make sure they did not fall off. In honesty, I don't recall a bunch of photos where grenades were carried in view. I have a feeling they were stuffed in pockets or carried in ammo bags, etc.

More than one story of Airborne guys having one go off in a pocket when the tape loosened up!
