You should make what impression you want to make, and that is correct for your age. At 14 years old HJ is the only thing I can think of off hand.
That said think about what you want to do and why, not based off of some anonymous poll online. You are young for the hobby (which is awesome as the youth are what we need to keep it going)but look around near you, find the good units and see if you can come check them out sometime, that is a good first hand source of help and information. Also consider the fact that what ever you do until your 18 will probably need your parents sign off to be able to participate, so I'm guessing whatever you do will probably have to be ok with them also!

The first step in getting started with reenacting is finding a local unit you are interested in joining. You might have to wait a couple of years until you can join but in the meantime you can start buying equipment items that will meet the standard and be suitable for the unit you want to be a part of.

Yeah, but its expensive so I want to get the right stuff the first time. If you know what I mean.

Cannot stress this point. There are good and bad units. What state are you in? Often the local unit(s) may dictate what your impression might be as the 12thSS may not be represented in your area or they might not be a good fit. TJ

He is saying first find the unit near Penn that you will be serving with, THEN begin to put your impression together, they will surely help you find the best gear (and possibly have some to sell). You can start all that now, but keep in mind at 14 you are going to grow.

So, just find a unit and they should help me find gear for my uniform and then eventually join them and be apart of the reeanctments?

Yes, that is how it works. You don't just show up with your uniform and weapon and start shooting. You need to find a unit you want to join (if not now, then when you are old enough); they will show you the ropes and give you the help you need to get started. The learning curve, starting off, is steep and you are going to need help to make the most of this hobby. There are likely many units where you live. Some are quality, some are not. Think about what kind of unit you want to be a part of and then look for a unit that meets your criteria.

Do you really want to be known in your high school as "the kid that dresses up as a Nazi" ?

You are getting some good advice. In particular you want to find a unit that will help you get started. They normally have loaner uniforms and gear to get your impression going until you can afford your own.
One thing I'd like you to consider is doing extensive research on the unit, group, etc. you plan to reenact. The idea of reenacting is to portray a time in history. Knowing the unit that are portraying helps to make your impression more realistic. Cool looking uniforms and fancy decorations don't always equate with someone or something you want to portray. War is dirty and so were some of the players. Doing your research and knowing what you are recreating (reenacting) will make you more informed about your choice and also your impression that much better.
