Hello, I just finished making my first German field desk. I thought I would share some photos. I made this for a fellow re-enactor at their request. He supplied the original photos that I based the work off of. Regards, Chris

First, your woodworking skills are better than mine. Good job in assembling it! Second, since the German armed forces probably made thousands of these items from dozens of cottage-industry shops, I would suspect that some variation existed. As a suggestion, Nord Ost crates makes a good version that incorporates a couple features that you might want to look at if you haven't already done so. The center cabinet drawers would probably be tough to include at this point, but the support straps from the box interior to the desk top could be easily installed. Here's a link to the Nord Ost one: Nord OstAgain, good job!

Thanks Wilhelm for the feedback. I really appreciate it. The dimensions of the Nord Ost field desk are considerably larger than this one. This one is only about 18 inches long and 10 inches deep. Probably a third the size of their field desk. I am planning building the larger desk sometime soon for my wife. She wants one large enough to hold a typewriter. Again, than you for the suggestions. Regards, Chris
