I'm curious to see here what various reenacting groups have FB pages. I'm the "webmaster" for my groups page and have managed to network and link with a pretty large number of reenactment groups/various history topics (lots out of Europe/Poland in particular). There are several US groups mainly east coast that we "like" and are "liked" by but there has to be more out there! If your group, or a group that you know of has a FB group page, I'd be interested if you could post the link up here I'd like to network more off our FB group, it is very interesting to watch the other groups on social media and keep tabs on their latest reenactments and projects. Pop over to our page, drop a link and a like and I'll do the same! www.facebook.com/3PGDREENACTORS

1st Infantry Division, 16th Infantry Regiment of Southeastern Michigan www.facebook.com/groups/455438354471172/The plan is to start work on a nice Webpage to be the primary means to tell the story of our group and have new members start. We also want to make it tool to educate the reenactment community, with diagrams, pictures and youtube footage of us showing the correct methods.

The format you have (a group) is what I started off with. If I could suggest you delete that and create "A page" the page format of FB allows alot more creativity and freedom of what you can post, various photo albums, notes and the ability to network in an easier way. Check out my link in the OP and you'll see what I mean. Certainly not criticizing just the page is a much fan friendlier format to use.

MAEMT86,
Your right. Originally I did make an actual page, but It it a little harder to use it as a communication tool for our group. With how much we have been doing this summer, we have not worked enough on our groups AD information, ie updating Facebook. As I said, our plan this fall is to create a unit website and literature to pass to fellow reenactors, people interested in joining the hobby, and people that would like us to come out and set up a display or give a talk. As soon as we make the website, we will once again transition from a group to a Facebook page.

2nd Infantry Division (Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan) our FB page is more intended for ourselves then the general public though anyone can join it, it's a "group" as far as set-up. www.secondinfantryreenacted.comwww.facebook.com/#!/groups/113961327530/ Also the LHRA- Living History Reenactment Association, which is our larger parent organization www.lhrareenacting.comwww.facebook.com/#!/LivingHistoryReenactmentAssociation The LHRA has a "group" and a "page" on facebook, with the page being geared more towards official annoucnements, and the group tends to be more just members posting. the LHRA also has a proboards forum that seems to be used more frequently than the FB group for discussions. lhrainc.proboards.com/as webmaster for the LHRA I find the group pages on FB to be harder to have conversations on then say this forum, but they are useful for people who check FB on a daily basis. I use mailchimp to send out emails to the organization on upcoming events and such. lhrareenacting.us6.list-manage1.com/subscribe?u=29f16f924811c94b74e3361d9&id=429ce8008dI've also set up a twitter account to help get the word out, but obviously I don't have something to post every day mainly just talking about upcoming events. and finally, I can add events or links you attend to the email list and websites if you send the info to Bill2ndID@gmail.com whoo that was a lot of typing

We've only got a private group on Facebook, but I think the idea of an open, public page, to promote the group is a good one. I'll post a link once we get one set up.

My group, K CO, 39th Inf., is part of the larger Colorado Military Historical Group and we have the entire group on FB. As for our own page, not yet. Go here to check it out: www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Colorado-Military-Historical-Group-CMHG/119169284775182 We just posted some cool pics from our big battle at Fort Carson. We were allowed to use their MOUT site. In town fighting was intense!

I find it extremely useful to keep up with units and their progress from events I've attended from around the midwest.
