So i found out my unit is going to Rockford this year as Marines and not Army. I don't have a Marine Kit and I still want to go, so what do I do? Do I just hang with another unit or just show up by myself?

Just show up! you can always link up with another unit! no reason not to participate!

How does I go about asking if i can link up with another unit? You just ask around? Talk to the CO?

Ok, i didn't think it was that easy. Do they usually allow tag alongs to put up pup tents?

I contacted a unit that was close by and asked if I could join them for a weekend event. They were very hospitable and accommodating.

Just because you are doing a different impression than they are for one event shouldn't bar you from participating with your unit. My guys usually end up circled up no matter what impression we happen to be doing. Then again, we're big enough that we can put up a decent Airborne and Marine display side-by-side. If Rockford is one of those events where camp space is an issue, then yeah, you may want to link up with another unit and fall in with them.

yep and branching out and intermingling with other reenactors and units is a good thing also.

Where do you live? there may be a unit close enough to you that would take you on without having to go to Rockford without advance set up. It can get crowded in the camps esp in the woods area and if you are not taken into account, it might be a problem. What unit do you usually represent? that could make a difference too...but no matter what you should be welcome with just about any US leg unit there..

I'm with the 1st ID 16 Regt. Still don't know if i'm camping but will still need a unit to be with.
