Hello, I am thinking of doing a 101st airborne impression, not necessarily E co 506, but maybe 501 or 502nd. My concern is the only 101st units In my area are E co and their reputation among other reenactors is not good. They aren't a "farby" unit it is just that they are viewed negatively among the reenacting community in our area. I have heard this from individuals from many units, other airborne, leg infantry, even german units. I guess my question is, if I want to do 101st and this is my only option what should I do? AG

First off, what is the area you are in? There are many 101st units across the country, some with bad reps, others very good.

I am in central PA. I believe the 506th unit does E co and HQ 2nd btn. I am sure that the reputationhas nothing to do with the guys in the unit, but for whatever reason the other reenactors in my area have a negative impression of them. If anyone knows anybody in this unit can you get me in contact with them, I would like to speak to someone int he unit personally.

AG43, the unit you're thinking of is actually two. There is an Easy Company unit, and then there is a HQ Co. 2nd Batt. unit. You can probably tell which one I'm in. PFC Small

AG43, yes those are two seperate units...but both are large units and well established...for any guys that are bashing those units, it is out of jealousy because I would say in terms of large established AB units in this area it would be those 2 and the unit I belong to E Co. 508 82nd AB (www.508pir.com)...we have alot of guys in central PA region and most of our events are out that way...but if you want to do 101 those are the units you want to be with...most of the trash talkers are guys that have 4 people in their unit and have 4 pup tents and their display is a m1 garand and 1903...send me a PM offline if you have any other questions.

The way I view it is that all units have good points and bad points. This is in all Living History units. As for the jealousy part. I highly agree with it as I know of people who bash units simply because of jealousy.

Irregardless of which exact units are at play, you could always do an impression of a different unit, but join one or the other as a satellite member.
