Have a question about hemming a pair of 1937 wool pants. How long were they hemmed? Did they just touch the top of the service shoe? or were they left a touch longer? Mack

I've seen numerous photos and it seems there were a number of lengths, both up and down, across the board. My impression has been that the bottom of your pant leg should come to the top of your service shoes. Not sure if the Field Manual addresses that question or not. Personally, I like them to be about 1/2 to 1 inch longer so that there is a bit of a break in the front crease of the pants. That way they don't ride up so high when you sit down. Just my 2 cents.

Ty wambley, The soldiers handbook did not mention it in the 1940 version. Is there a link to the uniform regs from the 1940 period, I googled it and was not able to come up with one all i get is the modern regs. Mack

Considering the fashions of the time. Private tailors and the like. Photos would be your best example. Most service men do like to modify uniforms just enough to be stylish without violating regs. At least in walking out dress uniforms.

Photos are the best source, and privypiper is correct in his comment. This has been discussed elsewhere on the board, but the general cut is to wear them so that the waistband sits at or just above the navel. The bottom has a slight or no break in the front and should be just above the top of the heel in back. The reg merely states "worn as issued."
Cheers!

The Wool pants look good and also have these for my casual looks. I also had recently seen wool tank tops too online and was thinking to invest in them. I was just wondering if anyone here could provide any reviews about these wool tank tops, please share here for me!
