National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis should have what you need. It's part of the National Archives, and you can request copies of your relative's records (free for next-of-kin). www.archives.gov/st-louis/Here's the problem: they had a major fire in 1973 that took out about 80% of the army's records for men discharged between 1912 and 1960. But you might get lucky; put in a request and see what they tell ya. Everything you need's on their webpage. Good luck!

Not discharged? Was he killed in action? Lifer? Oh I tought you meant like like discharged before contract was over. No he lived until 1982.....was in it from 41-45. Again from what I understand both ETo and PTO. Going from 82nd Airborne to Field Artillery. Its weird to understand really but I guess he was moved around alot.

On the St. Louis fire, not as many records were destroyed as claimed. Their first response is to say those records were consumed in the fire but in reality if you push in an assertive yet polite manner they seem to magically surface most of the time.
