I pull out the oak leaves for the Bulge event at the Gap where I coordinate the medical side of the event (real life medical and first aid..not play medics) so due to the responsibility and amount of staff i have there, they wanted me to be an officer but for the regular events I'm a staff sgt. and thats all i ever wanna be...
my unit has a Lt, SSgt, Cpl, 3 t-5's(clerk and medics) and about 10 pfc's/ privates

Besides, the lower the rank THE LESS RESPONSIBILITIES!! Man, somebody take my stripes away, PLEASE!! Scott I'd be happy to oblige you with that if you weren't so damn good at your job!! Don't get a thick head over that either.

ME! Good at my job? DANG! ;D Of course that is when you are not on a sick call, profile, restriction or twenty sheets to the wind!! So, basically it only applies to 20% of the time!! MMM

I agree with Helpinghand. There should be limits on officers based on the numbers in your unit. The Southeast units tend to be smaller and you will see an officer in charge of 8 guys. But if you want any kind of representation at an event and not get rolled into another unit you need to have some one with some blitzbling on their collar. Officers also are put in command of one side of the battle be it German or Allied so someone has to be in charge. Think long and hard before "volunteering" to be an officer because if you do it correctly, it's like running your on own business on top of your current job. You also have to be good at politicing.. but in order to be respected as an officer in reenacting you need to be in the hobby for a while and get to know all other units or you will be treated as a 90 day wonder officer and you will get no respect even though you may be wearing the rank. I started as a shutze and now 6 years later am just getting a butterbar... take that as you may.
