Basically what your doing is having the GCA, VFW, AMVETS or Gunsmith advocate for you. They are registered with the CMP and in the case of a gun shop you have someone to meet the FedEx driver during normal delivery hours. For those working third shift that means no dork in a blue shorts knocking at your door while your dreaming of things your ex-wife finds discusting. And before any FedEx driver takes offense do you really want me answering the door in briefs with half of Mr. Happy hanging half out?

Jay Jay Forgive Maurizio, on that side of the pond you probably do look more like the abominable snowman as they don't reference Sasquatch the way we do. Wait till the 2010 Olympics, if it’s in Washington State or Nepal ours will kick the bejebaz out of theirs. Go Sasquatch…Beat Yeti. Jim

I used to be one of those "Dorks" except in Brown Shorts. Well wait, I was a "Dork" in Blue shorts when I worked Airborne Express... So I resemble that remark. I never had the nice looking Woman, Babe or Chick answer the door in limited to no clothing, it was always some dude with Mr. Happy peaking out Or worse, a dude in chick's clothing. The tales I could tell from my days of working home delivery... Almost as good as my days as a Security Guard. I thought that I had put those days behind me... thanks for forcing me to dredge them up again fellas. Back to the original post... : The least expensive Rifles in Reenacting as to what it's gonna cost you to get started by buying your rifle first, is by far the Soviet Mosin Nagant 91/30 and then the Brit .303 No. 4 and then the German Mauser 98k. Dave Dave I'd add the Italian Carcano to the top list. My neighbor has been called in by widows, terminally ill neighbors and couples moving to senior centers to aid in removing weapons from houses. Outside of gun shops Carano's are going for $65 or buy a real rifle and get one free. It's not that they aren't desired by collectors but after you have 6 of them they kind of over flow and they multiply like Tribbles. The only reason I don't own one is I know it will bread and I'll have a litter of the damned things. Jim

I found my m1 carbine for $425 at a local militaria show. Look into those kind of things, you never know what you might find.

:DI was gonna say Carcano... but there isn't that many Italians units out there and only a few German units use the Carcano, so I thought I'd just mention the basic in-expensive models. There has been a large number of Carcanos released on the market again just recently. Italian impressions are increasing and while it is not for me, the guys that do it right make it look good.
They are not the cheapest rifle to shoot live though and even when I start making the rounds here in a month or 2 they will be a few $ more than regular common rounds. Mechanical problems with many that I have seen are almost beyond the price of repair - you could get a whole new rifle for less - the Nagant is the cheapest most practical rifle on the market for the foreseeable future.

the Mosin Naget is the cheapest. for $75 i picked a mosin naget up. for a deer rifle still in military condition. but on the other hand when i bought my Enfield 2years ago i gave $50 for it.
