Hello, I am conducting a research project based off of my grandfather's WWII photographs. Here are two images. Could you please help me identify the uniforms and guns? Image 1: imgur.com/TcksCrOWhat is the armband he is wearing on the left? Is that a standard issue army cap that he is wearing? Image 2: imgur.com/Er8wjn9What are the two guns? I know that the man on the right is wearing a German helmet. What is the man on the left wearing on his head? Thank you! If you have any other helpful insights into the pictures, that would be greatly appreciated. I don't have a clue where they are, but I do know that it is in Germany. Thanks again, Kelsey

Kelsey,
I can't read the armband but it is clearly a German armband that your grandfather picked up as a souvenir (like the German cap he is wearing).
The weapons he and his buddy are holding are M1 Carbines.

Standard US GI uniforms, except for wearing the German headgear. One person is wearing the five button sweater.

The armband is the yellow "Deutsche Wehrmacht" armband used by civilians attached to the German army in a variety of roles.

Image 1:
The soft cap looks to be a Waffen-SS M40/Overseas cap. Shape of the Eagle wings on the insignia looks like the SS eagle.
Image 2:
The cap is a German visor cap and I'm going to go with it also being SS based on other picture, but you can't see the insignia on it to make a definitive call.
