Hello~ I have been eagerly reading this forum because I'm new to WW2 US army reenacting. My dad was in WW2 and fought overseas in the ETO, 36th Texas I.D., 141st RCT, Anti-tank company. Dad was in battles and campaigns in Italy, Southern france and Germany before getting seriously wounded in the vosage Mtns battles. I would like to have my 'presentation' to be his old outfit. Doesn't look like it's sexy enough to be very popular for public event and units.
I'm on a strict budget and too old to go crawling in the dirt anymore. I'm currently looking for my uniform, kit and weapon. Dad had a carbine. I looked into a vintage live weapon costs vs airsoft vs others weapon ideas (like wood reproductions). Any suggestions there ?
I'm on a strict budget. I looked into vintage clothing and have been shopping around and found that since I'm a 50 regular big size guy, my choices are extremely limited on where to get my uniform items. I have done my research on that. Ready made or vintage is out for obvious reasons. I was thinking of purchasing custom made uniform shirt and pants. Where should I go for that?
I have real vintage WW2 kit items from my 50's childhood dated from 1941 to 1946. I have done my research on that. I will be incorporating those in my web gear kit and adding missing items. Or maybe trading some vintage kit items than I don't need only to swap and get what's needed by me. I have an Etsy.com online selling site. (SEE below) I have been in other reenacting groups for a couple of decades, just not WW2. I'm looking to be recruited by some US Army group located in Southern California. Any suggestions there ? The only WW2 events I have attended (not in a unit) is Chino's airport 'Planes of Fame', Marching through History events, and Ft. McArthur' s Battery Osgood July open house, a few local air shows and hanger 40's dances. I would like to do more in WW2 US Army.
Any suggestions ?
thanx....
