I'm moving into a new apartment and will essentially have a whole bedroom for my reenactment stuff. Until now it's been somewhat sloppily stored in my closet. I am looking forward to having the space to give my collection/equipment proper storage. I'm looking for inspiration. Thought this might be a great opportunity for people to post photos of their reenacting man (or woman) caves.

I originally started storing my stuff in a closet. Many years ago I was introduced to the "bin-system" of storage. Whereas, all my reenacting gear is stored in bins, plastic storage containers, and tubs. Since I do multiple impressions I have a bin for each: -Helmets, Hats, Shoes -D-Day -Generic -Signal Corps -Airborne -WW1 -War of 1812 -Paper My uniforms I have purchased for reenacting/collecting are kept in plastic suit bags (you can buy clear ones at wal-mart). I also keep a moth ball/crystal in each bag, along with one in each bin. My collection is both in a bin and on display. I purchased plastic shelving and several beneath-the-glass black-trimmed display cases. I rotate what is on the shelve every couple of months. The one mistake I made is that I should have purchased CLEAR storage containers.

Check out your local craigslist and see if anyone is giving away a decent China cabinet or display case. I have one with wood paneling, and looks great with a GI blanket on the bottom, also all the shelves are glass so you can see through them. I'll have to take a picture after I clean uo my basement a bit.

How about a "war deck?". The bride and I bought a house way to big for the two of us (3600 sqft). She gave me the 2nd deck as my war room. Even the bathroom is part of the display area. Advice for the single guys "marry up". Also, the advice from william03 on the china cabinets is very good. I picked up one china cabinet for $35, it holds all my German pistols. I would post photos, buy I am clueless on it. If some one would PM me to post them,I will send out some. One of the few, Frank USMC RET
