Playing with trying to make Re-enactment pictures look close to original field photography, what does everyone thing of this one, try to keep the comments about the photo editing and not the impressions, but those are ok as well Inf Reg GD, France 1940, Motorcycle Recon Squad i1205.photobucket.com/albums/bb440/kevair464/Recon.jpgThanks

Very good work! Nothing in the content jumps out as "reenactment" and the work you did to the appearance really seals the deal. Now, let's see some more

I think they look good. One thing is tough when converting snapshots from digital cameras is the depth of field they're able to capture. Things look too focused no matter how far they are.
Just be careful about blurring too much. Not everything is blown out focus, even if you're reproducing shots taken by personally owned cameras. Sometimes, it's more of a contrast issue as the shooter is adjusting for sunlight visually and not accurately with a light meter. You just have to find a happy medium.
You converted that Motorcycle Squad shot very well. I was not expecting to see such a huge crowd when I looked at the original.

thanks guys, these were my first attempts, I've noticed the more the original has odd lighting the more the filters make things look to out of sync, the motorcycle one had the best lighting. Faces tend to be harder to do and will take some more work.

Kevair, great photos, man! The first one, in my opinion, is the best. What did you use for editing these? Wouldn't mind having a little tutorial on how to do this so myself and other reenactors could have an attempt at making our photos look original. Cheers!
