That is the way I read it.
Our local German group got the flag banned from the local Air Force base display. They didn't apreciate it being flown.
A reenactors desire to do something historical doesn't always translate into an action enjoyed by all.

That's how I read it as well. He was talking about the act of flying and saluting the nazi flag. I've never understood the desire to do that and have never bought the whole "it's for historical posterity" thing either.

I know for the German ground crew impressions, the COMMON thing to do was (in real life) instead of wearing the breast eagle the fellows would wear their "specialty" patch and only have the eagle on the side cap.
