I found some this year that were of jap planes. The antique shop had three of them in folders. I paid around $30 each, sadly, I did get them for myself but a co-worker who is into model building. The ones I found were dated 1942. So, we had them also. One of the few, Frank USMC RET

I vote for training aids. When I was in the service, we used to have large "toys" like that to teach maintenance and such. I remember having my guys sit around and assemble American vehicle toys for table top classes.
I have even found similar type vehicles dating back to the early 60's.
Besides, we all know how good the German's are as toy makers!
