Very interesting. The first girl on the left looks to have full lace up boots. Can't see a double buckle

Love it! Have already printed it out to add to my display. Thanks, Martha Welcome. That picture is only one of thousands of images from World War II on file at the National Archives in College Park, Maryland. I hope to spend a day there in the near future, going through the collection. If I find any more like that, I'll get them posted here. Chief Mike

This photo (or one very much like it) has appeared in a few other books my wife has.
I ran into a large number of really cool "nurses in the field" type photos when i was going thru the Ceris de normandie collection.
Note the girl on the right who has simply folded and pinned her arm band to her sleeve.
In studying a lot of the nurses in the field photo, you see things such as the use of the all aluminum w/ aluminum top M1910 canteens, the WWI type mess kits, and lots of tanker jackets.

I don't know why But I always enjoy photos of the Gals in the Field. Neat Photo. Love the fact one of them is in Civis -- correct me if I'm wrong. Dave

If you are referring to the girl in the short sleeved shirt. She is wearing the waist, cotton, khaki, women's along with the women's pattern herringbone twill trousers. The modified short sleeves was fairly common (although not official authorized) much like you see with PTO pictures.
