Medic impression is a good option. However check with your prospective unit(s) regarding how many medics they have or will allow in their rank structure. Here in Texas medics are generally treated as a scourge....IMHO....and many allied units make no concession of having an unarmed individual within their ranks and make no allowance for a medic within their hierarchy. So you might find yourself investing as much or more in a medic impression than most folks put into an armed impression, only to find that your impression is considered an illegitimate stepchild...unless you can also field an armed impression.
Not meant to be discouraging but that is the general nature of things in my neck of the woods...If someone from Texas would like to disagree with that Im all ears and would love to hear something counter to that.

Guess things are different here in Florida. IMHO any unit that doesn't want or respect medics isn't interested in historical accuracy or honoring veterans. Not all Medal of Honor recipients carried a rifle. If you're too young to carry a firearm and your dad won't let you own edged weapons there's still opportunities for you in reenacting. Don't get discouraged. By the way, if your area tacticals use a similar rule system medics can be a real asset to units that don't like down time. Check things out with units in YOUR area before buying any gear.

If a medic impression isn't for you and you are too young to carry a firearm you may also want to consider portraying a radio operator or some other communications personnel. Just thinking outside the box for options you may want to consider.
