The M-28 I have is sewn into a pack pack. It was like that when I got it at a yard sale. I am keeping it that way is is way more useful.

Same with mine...I like it better that way, not that I can stuff anything more in it, but its easier to haul around...

Leggings are a pain but they keep stuff out of your boots.

Well I'd have to say the 28 pack too, it's alright if you pack it right and it does it's job but I always enjoy dropping it off at the bunker or my tent or wherever and just wearing my ammo belt.

Personnally the GI cartridge belt (reproductions) drive me nuts when they havent been broken in yet. Cramp your fingers up trying to get the En Blocs out of them. especially with blanks. Paratroop musette bag drives me nuts too when im driving my jeep.

Erik, for your cartridge belt, cut some wood blocks the width of an en-bloc and about a quarter inch by a quarter inch. Cram one of those in each of the pockets and it'll raise the height of your blanks (the wood taking the spot of the bullets). Really helps with getting the clips out quick. -Joe

I've done that, I actually used dowels so that it wouldnt make a crease in the fabric. works pretty well.

I love my USMC kits, but I would have to say that the worst piece of gear in the kit has to be the P41 suspenders!
No matter what, those things always seem to twist and get tangled up, regardless of how careful you are to put your web gear set down and pick it up.
Also the two small straps below the ring have a tenancy to come undone when running around in battles. They also really dig into your shoulders if they are trying to support the weight of a fully loaded BAR belt.
Besides that the entire kit is really comfortable and isnt all too tiring to wear.

It's a tough one for me. The 782 system is a real pain altogether. Whoever thought that system was a good idea....needs to be smacked.
From a medical standpoint, I am baffled by the medical bags of the period. I like my compartmentalization and modularity of my modern kit at work. Get out on the battlefield trying to perform "lifesaving interventions" and you're pulling out stuff thinking "where did I put that thingy thing...what we have here? Gauze, morphine syrette, carlisle, carlisle, carlisle, same morphine syrette, ah there you are..."

I have to agree with USMC1942 about the Marine gear. I have to say it seems to be well thought out and very practical with the exception of the suspenders.

WPG P37 Battledress. Buttons fell apart at 1st event, came in gargantuan size even though marked with the size ordered. I know to go for the Czech BD now.

As for Allied I have to say the worst thing in the kit seems to be the leggings. When it comes to anything else I generally don't complain. My problem is though that I still have riding issues due to my height.
As for German I think the biggest pains for me come to the following: Radios and Laffete mounts. The laffete mounts weigh a good 50 pounds and you can imagine humping that around gap. The heaviest radios are the field phones to me. Our back pack radios are reproductions so they are lighter.

Has to be the 1910 t-Handel. When on a pack it is ok and out of the way, but on a belt it catches on everything you walk by. Also the m-1938 dismounted leggings, make sure you have the right size or you will be uncomfortable.
