I think unit size is a topic for Tactical Events, in Living History Events, it's not as much an issue. I tactical events, each side is "more" dependant on the other for people to combat against all day. agreed thats my point. If you have less than a fire team you shouldnt pick nits about being folded into a larger unit for tacticals. For safety sake if NOTHING else. large doesnt mean good either.... Makes sense, also having the smaller units fold in, gives the "strangers" the opportunity to work together and get to know other guys. It works if your parent organization already has such a rule. Otherwise, this is not something a smaller group would vote if it was a brand new proposal.

But then neither does small mean good or quality. A large, good unit can do much more in WWII reenacting in both tactical battles or living history events. More men means more in the talent pool and more equipment that can be brought out. Just ask 2nd Panzer or other equivalent units. To quote our dear secretary of state, "It takes a village." TJ

When I had more time to devote to travel for events, I looked forward to sharing information and learning new things from falling in with them also. I have been in several large units and some were even bigger than the current 2nd Panzer and I must say that all the games played in those units (people bumping you on crew status so they didnt have to walk, or people spreading rumors about others) took a lot of the fun out of the hobby. You perfer large and I perfer small. I enjoy my small unit, it is kind of like living in the city or country, big city isnt my cup of tea anymore.

Well a guy I used to work with came up to me one day and said "I hear your interested in WWII.. would you like to help start a unit" Now we have a grand total of 4 active members but they are great to go to events with. Most of the time we join up with another unit as a support role (307th AEB).
