And my great-uncle, James Schwabe. This is a postwar photo of him, but when he was in the military I think he was in the 43rd Infanterie Division. I really don't know much about his military career. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and brought back a C96 pistol. He's recently passed, but he never talked much about the war. i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn191/Dertinger/JamesSchwabe.jpg

This is my opa. He was sent to Konigsburg at the age of 17. He was captured there and released in '49. I havnt gotten all the details from him but he told me he did something with heavy weapons. He also told me he could speak Russian so he was able to be a translator. That may have been one of the reasons he survived being a POW. First two shots are of my grandfather in WW2, the 3rd is my great-grandfather in WW1! He served in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific, according to his discharge paperwork, his MOS was Surgical Technician, attained the rank of Tech. 3, inducted 31 DEC 42 in Boston, Mass, entered active service on 7 JAN 43 and was honorably discharged 26 NOV 45. He remembers his basic was in Utah and attended medical training at a hospital in Kansas, he flew aboard C-47's as a crew member doing medical evacuation.
