Looking O.K. but the gaiters should have 3 holes, not 4. The breadbag is dead wrong, no matter if you cut out the inside divider or make the straps triangular. This is a copy of a post war breadbag. Also, the gaiters should come down alot, and your canteen needs a cup. I see alot of reenactors without cups. Do not reenact the unordinary, reenact the norm.
Also, make sure you fold your Feldmutze in half (The brim) as soldats kept them in their breadbags and belts. And it needs a Jagerpinch. Go to Der Erste Zug to find out more.
When you get you're haircut, get a 1 or so on ther sides and leave the top tall.
Keep working on it and you will get it right.
Sam

Who would you recommend getting a breadbag from? Most places i've seen with them have the incorrect ones.

Well i got mine from Wephaus, but it seems they do not have them anymore. Try Richard Underwood. I have heard he has some good stuff. www.richardaunderwood.com/index.php?cPath=26_40And the sad thing is most reenactors do not even know what type of breadbag they have!

Ok, I will talk to Lauren at Wephaus. I have one that I got from Hessen but it is incorrect.

Sam I can't really lower my Gaiters as they were mounted over my US double buckle boots. If I did you'd see the leather buckles. I bought a pair of low boots which are coming in the mail. As for the straps I'll shorten em. What is the difference between the post-war and war-time breadbag? I know a lot of WWII breadbags were made of linen but I am pretty sure some were canvas too. Can't see any other differences looking at a bunch of pictures of original ones. The canteen is just a cheap post-war one I borrowed from someone hence no cup. I'll do the pinch to the cap, I read an article suggesting it a while ago. The cap I have is really cheap though I need a new one. That can wait though as it'll just be stuffed in my belt most of the time. Thanks for the advice.

I did take out the internal divider. I could just sew the strap ends triangular. I also got rid of the button reinforcement after I took those pictures. I'll post some new pictures once I am done.

Beat your gaiters up a little. If you crumple them up and shower with them they should turn out pretty good. Everything else is looking sharp; I really like how you managed to change the color of your breadbag...

Yea I am planning on beating them up. I might also take the stitching out and hand stitch them as that's how the originals were made I believe. I enjoy modifying gear as you might notice. Thanks on the breadbag.

Thanks a bunch guys, glad you both like it. It definitely adds to the impression a lot. Too bad about the ROTC regs, but I guess that kind of hair cut just wouldn't look right in the Marines anyways.

I didn't think so either So do you do airsoft and reenacting? Glad to have an airsofter with a care about authenticity.

Yea I do both. I don't see why one would have to do just one or just the other. Both have different things to offer. Reenacting has the bang while airsoft has the bullet. It would be cool if someone came up with a replica that could do both though.
